International Blog Hop | Thinking of You

Welcome to this month's International Blog Highlight, our theme for September is Sympathy. It is a really sad time when our friends and family lose someone they love. As paper crafters we have a wonderful gift of being able to let them know that we are thinking of them by taking time to make them a very special card or project to show them we love them and are thinking of them during their difficult time.

I've created the below card using the Colorful Seasons stamp set, capturing the essence of caring with the simple sentiment "Thinking of you"

Using a Sponge Dauber I applied Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzazz to the solid stamp for the small leaves, and heat embossed the sentiment with Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder. I heat embossed the outer layer of the card with Copper too.

The copper Trim used for the bow is so unique - you can keep it as a "solid" ribbon like I have around the card as well as tease it out like I have done for the bow, how versatile is that!

I would love if you could take the time to vote for my card at Kylie Bertucci's host page for this blog highlight,- The top ten winners will get to be part of an international blog hop so please vote for my project. You can do that by clicking on the icon below:

Birthday Memories for a special 50th

It's the middle of the week, time to catch up after busy past few birthday weeks. It was the Birthday Memories suite to the rescue for me when I have had to make so many male theme cards recently.

This is such an amazing Suite, you are so spoilt for choice! and even more choice when you incorporate the Happy Birthday thinlet.

What I love about this card is the happy cheerful colours, Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Pacific Point are such a vibrant combination - courtesy of the Birthday Memories Suite, and the pattern of the DSP is just fabulous.

 Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper

I changed up the Happy Birthday die cut by snipping the words apart and adding the "special big five zero" in the middle raised up on mini dimensionals, finishing of with a strip of 1/4 in Stitched edge ribbon.

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop | Special Guest Stesha Bloodhart

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with special guest Stesha Blookhart from the River Falls, Wisconsin. You can view her wonderful creations at her blog, Stampin Hoot

I decided on the below project as love the quick and easy watercolour background technique - I tend to "overthink" when I am using an aqua painter to create a background, but this technique works for me even though I am not in total control hahaha! I think it's because you get you achieve a beautifully random background so quickly - no time to think about it!

I used a combination of Bermuda Bay and Marina Mist on Shimmery White cardstock using a small piece of Window Sheet, and in the process noticed that when the colours blended there was a hint of purple! So on some scrap I played a bit more and added some perfect Plum - I used this to die cut the swirls and snowflakes.

I'm in love with the Snowflake Sentiments Bundle, the font is just gorgeous, and those swirls, love the swirls!  The sentiment is white heat embossed, looks fab with the Shimmery White cardstock.  All that was left to do was lay out the swirls and snowflakes, and add a finishing touch of iridescent sequins - I love these! 3 different sizes and a variety of colours.

Next was to create the little tag for my box of sweets, I added layers of Perfect Plum and Bermuda bay to the tag to match the card, then decorated with more die cuts. Clear Tiny Treat Boxes are perfect for small gifts, they are so easy to make. Silver Metallic Edge ribbon was a great accompaniment for this project, and I must say I am rather proud of my bow, maybe I am overcoming my bow fear hahaha! I attached the mini tag using Silver Thread.

Be sure you hop all the way around our Crazy Crafters hop and see all the incredible creations, and if you have a chance please leave a comment, we love receiving comments! Double trouble with the Cat Punch

Lots of birthdays this month for family and friends, and double trouble as my husband is a twin!

I don't normally mixed so many sets together when making a card, but I it just happened this way when creating a card for my brother in law, but it does show how versatile Stampin' Up! products are, so easy to mix and match.

I knew I wanted to use large numbers on the card (just so he was sure he knew was 50, hahaha), then I saw the Cat Punch - he has 2 cats, that's when things came together!

I added the flag from Birthday Delivery, using the bone folder to curl and to give a 3D effect of it blowing in the breeze. The detail in the stamps in this set is amazing, and being photopolymer it is quite easy to line up the sentiment with the flag - I found stamping the sentiment first and then lining up the flag got me the best result. Likewise stamping the Cat faces was simple as the Spooky Cat set is also photopolymer.

I wouldn't be without the Large Number framelits, I use the so often on birthday cards, they are a great way to make every birthday or anniversary special, below are links to to products used if you would like to take a closer look at what the set has to offer:
